Philip O. Smith, 57, of Springboro, passed away peacefully, at home, on November 19, 2024, following a courageous eight year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born December 14,1966 in Erie, PA to Philip A. and Louise (Sietzes) Smith. He married Darla Wise on June 22, 1991. She survives.
Phil earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Edinboro University in Criminal Justice. He worked as a correctional officer at the Crawford County Correctional Facility where he retired after 30 years. He enjoyed playing and watching a variety of sports and particularly enjoyed the time he spent coaching his sons in Little Gridders, Little League, JR high football and JV Basketball. He was also a member of the Springboro Town Council for many years.
In addition to his parents and wife he is survived by two sons, Samuel (Crystal) Smith and Sidney Smith, two grandchildren, Mason and Grace Smith and two brothers Tim (Kay) Smith and Ben (Patty) Smith. Additionally, he is survived by his in-laws George and Carol Wise, a brother-in-law Guy Fuller, a niece and 2 nephews, as well as many close cousins and friends. His children and grandchildren were his world and brought him much pride and joy.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Christina Smith and a sister-in-law Carla Wise-Fuller.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of a monetary donation, please consider donating blood to the American Red Cross or your local blood bank, in his honor, as he was a recipient of much!
