On April 3rd, 2025, we said goodbye to Mary Margaret Chason, whose beautiful light now shines forever in the heavens. She passed away at Rolling Fields Eldercare Community.
A life lived full of unconditional love, Mary did not know a stranger.
Mary was born in Meadville, PA, on May 18, 1971, the daughter of Raymond and Mary Ann (Fedorcak) Chason. She grew up in Conneautville. Born with special needs and the youngest of seven children, it was natural for Mary’s immediate and extended family to want to protect her, but at the same time, teach her all about life. As we soon found out, Mary was the one to teach us a thing or two.
She was eager to get to know people that came into her life. To know her, you realized there was no prejudice in her actions. There was no avoidance of someone who looked or acted “different”. She embraced everyone with open arms. She loved to give hugs that you wouldn’t forget. When you got a hug from Mary, she hugged your heart.
Mary loved bowling, the Miami Dolphins, Special Olympics, Elvis, music, traveling and being with her family, chosen family and friends. Her favorite Christmas song was Silent Night - SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE, Mary.
She graduated from MASH and spent 19 years loving her job, supervisors and coworkers at Vallonia Industries in Meadville, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents John and Helen (Dziak) Fedorcak and Lawrence and Esther (Smith) Chason; her Uncles George Lee Fedorcak and Robert Chason.
She is survived by her siblings Patricia (John) Hamilton, Michael Chason, David Chason, Kathleen (Allen) Duda, Paul (Tracy) Chason and Joseph Chason. She is also survived by her Aunt Evelyn Flohr, Aunt Carol (Robert) Chason and a dear, longtime family friend Mary Rendulic. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at McCauley Funeral Home, 1405 Main St, Conneautville, PA 16406 on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 2:00PM. Fr. Chris Hamlett will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Olympics of Crawford County, Vallonia Industries in Meadville, PA., The ARC of Crawford County or Hospice of Crawford County.
A Celebration of Life gathering for Mary will be planned at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of MCCAULEY FUNERAL HOME, 1405 Main St. Conneautville, PA 16406.
