
Douglas A. Phelps, 70, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 8, 2024, at his residence in Springboro with his loved ones at his side. He was born November 10, 1954 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late James Harold and Carol Sue (Staub) Phelps. He married JoAnn Casbohm on December 28, 1974. She survives.
Doug was a member of LIUNA Local #964 where he worked as a construction laborer until his retirement in 2017. Upon retirement, he spent his days tending his ever-expanding, flourishing vegetable garden, completing home construction projects and enjoying all things outdoors. He was especially proud of his grandsons and loved traveling to spend time with them in Virginia.
In addition to his wife of 49 years he is survived by two sons; Jeremy (Lindsey) and Jack Phelps, two grandsons; Ethan and Zachary Phelps, three brothers; David (Melody)Phelps, Dennis (Robin) Phelps and Dean Phelps, two sisters; Sue (Bruce) Giering and Annette Smallwood, his mother-in-law Nila Joan Casbohm, a sister-in-law Jean (Doug) See, a brother-in-law Gerald S. (Becky) Casbohm and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Gerald L Casbohm and a brother-in-law Stephen Smallwood.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 2:00 PM until the time of the service at 4:00 PM with Rev. Ron Welker officiating. All services will be at McCauley Funeral Home.
