Caroline R. Hunt, of Turkey Track Road, Conneautville, PA, died in the company of her six children at Meadville Medical Center on November 25, 2024, as a result of complications following a fall.
She was born January 11, 1932, in Dunkirk, NY, the daughter of Clinton and Blanch Covey Hammond. Caroline grew up in Westfield, NY, and was a graduate of Westfield Academy. She and her former husband, Larry Hunt, lived for many years in Ripley, NY, where they operated a grape farm and raised their six children. After earning an Associate Degree in Nursing at Jamestown Community College, Caroline worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Erie, and then went on to become the Director of Nursing at the Lutheran Home in Erie. While living in Erie, she was active in the Erie Philharmonic Society along with former husband John Tomcho.
She retired from the nursing profession in 1997 and moved to Conneautville, PA, where she enjoyed gardening, crafting, reading, watching birds and “critters” in her yard, and spending time with family and friends. Until recently, she enjoyed playing games with friends at the Bair Family Center in Linesville.
She is survived by her six children: Catherine Hunt, Boston, MA; Patricia Albaugh (George Miller), Oneida, NY; Deborah Bell (Scott), Kodak, TN; Martin Hunt (Dianne), Ripley, NY; Marsha Clark (Frank), Conneautville; Brian Carroll-Hunt (Nancy), Erie; eight grandchildren: Christine Lyttle, Strawberry Plains, TN; Drew Albaugh (Rebecca), New Hartford, NY; Matthew Albaugh (Kirsten Mueller), Bergen, NY; Jessica VanNette (Charles), Erie; Eric Hunt (Kristin), Houston, TX; Rachael Quinones (Marty), North East, PA; Adam Clark (Sarah Adsit), Pittsburgh; Jared Clark, John Mohr, Phoenix, AZ; 14 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Madison, and Jackson Lyttle; Aiden and Addison Albaugh; Lucy and Will Albaugh Mueller; Lauren and Shaun VanNette; Avery Hunt and Elsie Quinones; Birdie, Bear, and Bo Hunt; her sister-in-law Laurel Magnuson; and several nieces, nephews and their families.
She was predeceased by her long-time companion, Richard McConnell, her sister and brother-in-law, June and Howard Ferguson, and a granddaughter, Patricia Clark.
The family thanks the entire staff of the Meadville Medical Center for their extraordinary care and compassion. There will be no calling hours or public service.
